• "DJ’s Jewelry is a fantastically talented family business. Pieces Jon has created or repaired for me over the years have impressed my friends, family members, and strangers who comment on them frequently. My dad – who knows jewelry and gemstones well and lives in a big city – is amazed at the quality and reasonable prices at our small town jewelry store.
  I first contacted Jon when they opened their store. I had a ring which was a gift from my great aunt in Germany which I wore all the time in her memory – and it had fallen apart / become misshapen / etc..It is an antique and I had taken it to several other jewelers (including one recommended by my dad in the ‘big city”) – but none of them were willing to work in it. Jon made it functionally like new, but authentic.
  I was so delighted I started bringing him all my repairs – and there were many, many over the years. I live on a farm and do not like to dress up in other than my best pair of jeans and cowboy boots, and I do not like to go out unless that dress code is acceptable – but my mom taught me to love fine jewelry. We are not wealthy, but I have inherited some nice pieces, and when I get a little money ahead I figure my money is a lot more secure wrapped up in beautiful, timeless jewelry than money which is worth less every day – so I purchased other jewelry from DJ’s, and had Jon make me some beautiful one of a kind items, all out of gold and beautiful gems.
  The problem is – I would never have an occasion to wear them, and I want to wear my favorites everyday. This results in them being worn training horses, working on the farm, and even wrestling with bad guys as a cop. My jewelry had to be “armored” to survive my lifestyle – yet look delicate and beautiful. What a challenge!!
  Jon told me making jewelry that can survive my wearing it has spurred him to develop unique subtle techniques for making and repairing jewelry for other active customers that is sturdy yet beautiful.
  As my daughters grew up , I instilled in them the same love of fine jewelry – and one of them is almost as hard on her jewelry as I am on mine – so now she brings her repairs to Jon to fix with his amazing technical skill and innovation.
  At certain points in my life I have wanted something not available readymade: – a ring with my family’s crest on it, a horsehead inside a horseshoe ring for my daughter designed around adding a ruby each year, a gold copy of a gift pin with southwestern horses on it in sterling silver (which my “acid skin” turned black immediately) into a white gold bracelet, two bracelets/ a set of earrings / a pendant on a chain - form one Celtic bracelet my daughter brought back from a college semester in Ireland, a chocolate diamond ring so deep in chocolate color it makes you hungry.
  Jon just asked me to tell him what I wanted, he showed me sketches, and made the pieces, always beautiful and always just what I want. It has gotten to the point where now - if I ask him to do something for me - whether it is a repair or an original design – I just tell him to use his own judgment – I trust him completely.
  But there is something else which makes DJ’s special – and I would be remiss if I did not mention it. You are treated so well at DJ’s. Jon’s wife, daughters, and son work In the store too – and they are a lovely family. They wound up moving to a farm not far from ours -we are neighbors now! Their knowledge and skills learned over the years growing up in the business, and their basic caring and appreciation for other people, make them able to suggest the right things to each customer, sensitive to each person’s unique wants and needs. Even the non-family members they hire to work there seem like family as they carefully select their employees. Jon’s wife Michele repairs jewelry also, and is very good at it.
  In summary, all I can say is I will not go to any other jewelry store but DJ’s – they are the best!!!"

As two women, we always felt out of place in the other shops, but as soon as we walked through the door at DJ's, Shanda made us feel welcome. At one point, we were so impressed that Jon had taken the time to custom make a ring for us, which unfortunately wasn't quite what we wanted.
